The Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be a trilogy, Warnes Bros. has confirmed.

In an interview with The New York Times, Warner Bros' general director unveiled that the story based on J.K. Rowling's 2001 book will be divided into three different movies.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them takes place in the world of Harry Potter, although the famous wizard won't feature as the story is supposed to have happened around 70 years before Potter.

Rowling says that she needed some convincing by Warner CEO Kevin Tsujihara, but added that she only needed 12 days to write a first draft of the script once she had been persuaded.

The Harry Potter movies, eight in total, were a huge success world-wide. The first was released in 2001 and the last hit cinemas about ten years later.
