Eurovision Song Contest 2013 Entry: Estonia - Birgit - Et Uus Saaks Alguse

"Et Uus Saaks Alguse" by Birgit may cause trouble for Estonia at the Eurovision Song Contest. However, the entry may prove to be an interesting case study as to what works and what doesn't at the Contest, particularly with the new running order system.
Title: "Et Uus Saaks Alguse" ("So There Can Be a New Beginning")
Semi-Final: First, Position 2
Last year's entry/position: "Kuula" - Ott Lepland (6th Place)
The new system of having the producers select the running order for the Eurovision Song Contest may be controversial, but I think this year's running order did a fine job. I think the producers managed to strike a balance and create a relatively seamless flow from one entry to the next. The process has also revealed some harsh truth's about a few entries, such that Estonia getting the unenvious 2-spot in the first semi-final may have been earned. Take a listen:
Birgit has a lovely voice and "Et Uus Saaks Alguse" is pleasant on the ears. The song is nice. The way that oatmeal is nice. Assuming you stopped reading to listen and watch the video, it is probably at about this point in this paragraph that you have forgotten the song. There's a whole lot of nothing going on with this entry.
What I find all the stranger is how this song and Russia's entry have many similarities, yet the latter is considered one of the favorites while Estonia is left in the cold. Granted, some of that may be alleged strong-arming from Russia causing a potential upswing in votes received, but Estonia is generally popular with many countries. This entry exposes one of the anomalies of the voting mechanisms at Eurovision, which I find absolutely fascinating.
What I also find fascinating is how countries continue to send pop country-ish entries like this to the Contest. It didn't work for Netherlands or Belgium last year, nor did it work for San Marino the year before. Unfortunately for Estonia, I don't expect twang to work in 2013.
