AMC's zombie apocalypse drama The Walking Dead ended its third season Sunday night with its largest audience to date, beating out almost all broadcast network programming.

The Walking Dead pulled in 12.4 million viewers, as reported by Broadcasting & Cable Monday. The previous record held by the drama was 12.3 million viewers tuning in for the mid-season premiere in February. The show also drew an 8.1 rating in 18-49, a number which any of the broadcast networks would kill for.

The only program on broadcast to outdraw The Walking Dead Sunday was the conclusion of the Duke / Louisville NCAA game on CBS, which overran until approximately 7:45pm, with an audience peak of 17.9 million.

The Talking Dead, a companion talk show on AMC, also hit an audience high with 5.2 million viewers.
