Join TVLatest.com tonight at 8pm for live coverage of tonight's season finale of The X Factor Season 2. Will it be Carly Rose Sonenclar, Tate Stevens or Fifth Harmony who walks away with a $5 million recording contract?
Wednesday's performance finale featured three songs from each act: a revisit of a previous performance, a duet with established music acts LeAnn Rimes, Little Big Town and Demi Lovato, and one final song to convince America to give them votes. Let's take a look back at the journeys of the three acts in the final:
Carly Rose Sonenclar landed her spaceship outside Westchester, NY several years ago and is trying to pass as a 13-year-old with an incredibly mature musical voice. She auditioned in Providence and was a shoo-in for Boot Camp, Judges Houses and eventually Team Britney. Carly Rose's only major obstacle was the very first week of live shows when she performed an up-tempo pop song rather than something from the Adele/Celine powerhouse catalog. She and Tate Stevens have been swapping the 1-2 spots on the leaderboard throughout the competition: will Carly Rose Sonenclar top the rankings and win?
Tate Stevens Tate Stevens wowed the judges in Kansas City with his charming demeanor and solid country vocals. Though the family man suffered a crisis of confidence during the audition process, including mentor LA Reid telling everyone in the Over 25s that he did not want the category, Tate has persevered through the competition. He sat on top of the rankings the first two weeks of audience voting and has received consistent praise. Will Tate Stevens prove that older contestants can also possess the X factor?
Fifth Harmony started as five individuals cobbled together after Boot Camp. Under the former name LYLAS, they had one of the strongest Judges Houses performances of the entire cast. After a name change to 1432 and a disastrous performance of a Taylor Swift song, the girl group was down but not out. After renaming themselves Fifth Harmony and accepting notes from the other judges, the quintet continued to inch up the rankings. They survived the final Final Showdown of the season and overtook mentor Simon Cowell's pet project Emblem 3 to claim a spot in the finals. Will the female One Direction give Simon a second win?
Tonight's show will be jam-packed with performances from the finalists, eliminated contestants, and special guests Pitbull and One Direction. By the end of the two-hour extravaganza one contestant will win the biggest prize on American television. Join me at 8pm Eastern for live coverage!
