The X Factor Results: Who made the Top 6? Which two acts went home?
Nov 29 2012 08:59 pm CET

It was the third double elimination in-a-row on Thursday's edition of The X Factor. The Top 8 sang full versions of Number 1 songs to try to get to the top of the rankings, but 8th place went home immediately while two other acts battled for sixth place and survival.

Last night, the eight acts (two in each category) sang number one songs. Diamond White disappointed LA Reid, making her nervous. Vino Alan had a last minute song change and failed to impress Demi Lovato and Simon Cowell. Paige Thomas offered one of her best performances of the competition with an interpretation of Rick Astley. Fifth Harmony suffered a loss in the family, but their static performance made their fate uncertain.

Carly Rose Sonenclar took on Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" and left the stage unscathed. Tate Stevens went uptempo and brought out his guitar, much to the enjoyment of the panel. CeCe Frey brought back the insanity with "Lady Marmalade" in an effort to escape elimination. Emblem 3 closed the show with a patriotic performance of "I'm a Believer" which did not cause Demi to swoon.

The first elimination took out the act that received the fewest votes. Khloe Kardashian Odom asked Simon for a prediction. "I have a bad feeling," he responded. Silence filled the studio before Paige Thomas heard her name announced. Paige took the news in stride, but judge Demi Lovato was left with one act.

The seven remaining acts learned their fate in the next segment. The acts advancing to next week's show are Fifth Harmony, CeCe Frey, Emblem 3, Carly Rose Sonenclar, and Tate Stevens. Diamond White and Vino Alan had to sing for survival. Simon Cowell says he wasn't surprised about Vino being in danger, but Diamond was a surprise.

Diamond White sang first in the Final Showdown. Her song was "I Was Here" by Beyoncé. Diamond entered the stage with confidence and a smile before delivering a solid performance. Vino Alan countered with "Trouble" by Ray LaMontagne. The performance began with an odd vocal inflection, but eventually Vino got back on track. Both performances were good, so the panel had a tough choice ahead of them.

LA Reid opened the voting, saying he did not want to have to vote between the two acts by selecting to send home Diamond. Britney Spears both acts did an amazing job, by selected to send home Vino. Demi says she doesn't want to send either act home, but she selected to send home Vino. Simon Cowell had the last vote and after much deliberating voted to send home Vino. LA Reid says he is proud of his act and considers him family.

The show ended with the weekly ranking. Here's how last night's vote played out:

6. Diamond White (viewer vote of 6th/7th not revealed) - Last week 5th
5. CeCe Frey - Last week 8th
4. Fifth Harmony - Last week 7th
3. Emblem 3 - Last week 4th (Only 1% of the vote separates 3rd from 1st)
2. Tate Stevens - Last week 2nd (Only .1% separates 2nd from 1st)
1. Carly Rose Sonenclar - Last week 1st, second weekly win

Next week on The X Factor: The Top 6 face the Pepsi Challenge. The home audience gets to vote for what song each act should sing as well as other random stagings. Remember the rotating stage with lasers last year?
