Tonight's television features two notable returns – Suburgatory and American Horror Story – along with a tribute to Whitney Houston on Lifetime. Here's what's on TV Wednesday.

First up tonight, Lifetime pays tribute to the late Whitney Houston with the special The Houstons Remember Whitney. Along with interviews featuring the pop star, members of Whitney's family will share stories, home movies and photographs of a more personal nature. The special airs at 9pm. This will be followed by the premiere of My Life Is a Lifetime Movie at 10pm.

Over on ABC, Suburgatory returns for its sophomore season. Tessa is back from her summer in New York and is ready to demonstrate the musical talents she may (or may not) have inherited from her mother. Lisa tries to get one over on Ryan while Noah and Dallas escalate the competition for Carmen. Find out what happens at 9:30pm.

Finally, the big event of the evening is the season premiere of American Horror Story: Asylum. This season's anthology focuses on the evil doings a-transpiring at Briarcliff Manor, an asylum for the insane. Joining Emmy Winner Jessica Lange in this season's cast are Zachary Quinto (Heroes, Star Trek) and Adam Levine (Maroon 5 frontman and judge on The Voice). The terror begins at 10pm on FX.
