Survivor Philippines Season 25 Episode 2 Recap: Don't Be Blinded by the Headlights

It was a hectic first week for most of the survivor contestants. While most wanted to get rid of the returnees, Mike Skupin's group looked like they needed him. Of the celebrities Lisa, aka Blair from The Facts of Life and Jeff Kent both struggled, one emotionally, the other physically.
Matsing returned to tribal with Russell thanking the tribe. He continued to emphasize that his chieftain ways were reformed as he tried to promise stepping back to the audience again. Let's see how long it takes before he slips back into that chief role. In the middle of the night Angie decided to cuddle with Malcolm; he was booty blinded. Roxy woke up to the cuddling, realizing that the booby trap was out and Malcolm was snared right into the jugs.
Tandang woke up and the weather took a turn for the rainy again. That's what they get for taping during the middle of March. RC was worried about the rice being moldy and ran her fingers through the rice and found the clue while Lisa was over her shoulder. After Lisa walked away from her RC saw Abi and told her to meet at the well. The two read their clue and assumed that the clue was literally under the camp. In the short period of time they were together, the two decided to stick together and held the clue as a secret between the two. Soon suspicions kicked in as Abi was worried about Skupin talking to RC too much. She confronted RC about it and RC described her relationship as "father-like." The two immediately started to bicker and Abi threw curse words for no reason. Way to make yourself look like a loose cannon Abi-Maria.
Kalabaw watched the rain fall as Jeff struggled with having gas in his tank for endgame. Make it there first, figure out the energy levels later especially when intense food challenges pop up later in the game. The group decided to sit in their hut as they made checkerboard with the sand. Penner knew that the tribe had to move so he could find the idol. With the rain getting heavier, the rest of the tribe went to their little cave. As everyone started a fire, Penner searched for the idol everywhere. He considered the flags under the camp which was a decent choice translating "under your nose." As the tribe came back he lied about his glasses/contacts and it seemed like the lie worked. He finally realized that the immunity idol was the rice container top. Penner placed the idol in his pants that were hanging. Let's see if anyone notices the damn thing is missing.
Matsing woke up to day five with a rat wandering around the camp. Malcolm and Angie continued to cuddle as Roxy darted the most evil eyes onto the pair. She immediately told Russell that they should split the couple. Decent strategy, but the execution of the suggestion was weak. Roxy told Denise, but Denise was more worried having Malcolm as her alliance partner.
Tandang was in the rain as Abi complained about not having food. They started discussing how much french fries are great. Lisa felt really shy about the situation and walked away. Abi felt she wasn't trying hard enough. We cut to find Lisa at the well broken down, worried about not having anyone with her supporting her. She then said that she was better at being a character. The real question was: Why didn't she just become a character? You know, the den mom, or Blair from The Facts of Life. Go for that Emmy award. The rest of the tribe laughed about shooting the runaway dog that always leaves the hole in the fence. What? Wouldn't you just patch the fence?
Matsing. Russell was more worried about keeping the fire going. They decided to reinforce the shelter in their moist desperation. Everyone was already over with the rain. Even Roxy with her faith in God, was losing the energy and was breaking down. Soon, the sun came out as the tribe smiled and tried to dry as much as possible. Roxy immediately started to pray to God, loudly and then spoke a few phrases in a different language. Denise and Russell questioned her strength.
The tribes arrived for their immunity challenge as Matsing was now Zane-less. The challenge was another multiple part physical/mental challenge. Pairs would have to grab puzzle pieces and then another pair would solve the puzzle with another caller. There was a prize of blankets and tarp for the first team, the second team needed a tarp. Abi and Dawson (who?) sat out for the challenge. In team strategizing we actually heard Russell taking leadership and generally failing before the challenge even started.
The tribes made a run with the male/male pairs doing better than Russell/Angie. Wasn't Angie talking about how she ran track last week? Yes, I know that sled running isn't track, but she should have had a little more energy than she did. There's a guy named Artis? Turns out he runs pretty quickly. Matsing fell behind quickly as both of the other tribes generally worked together better. Malcolm helped with closing the gap, but why didn't he run twice instead of any of the women? The puzzles finally were unfolded to reveal Tetris-style puzzle pieces. Lisa, Denise, and Dana were calling out as most of the teams did decently. Lisa has a strong puzzle eye, considering that she did the puzzle last week as well. Denise hit the target on the nose when she screamed that the puzzle was, "...like Tetris" and then said to rotate pieces. I betcha she'd be pounding the B button hard. The three tribes got to the third puzzle as Tandang won first, with the phrase "Put it in" being shouted intensely as Kalabaw got second. Matsing lost again and poor Russell lost another screw because they haven't tried hard enough.
Matsing lost again as Russell pointed out his doubts about Roxy and Angie. He needed Roxy for information because of how quickly she would tattle to Russell. Roxy then started turning street and hand clapped to emphasize her motions. Malcolm and Angie realized that the intense silent-miming they saw from far away was probably not a good thing. Malcolm sounded like a stereotypical dude as he claimed that didn't mind the hugs. Or the jugs. Russell than talked to Denise and compared Angie to having the Miss America mentality but could possibly have a layer underneath. Denise was happily in the middle making the vote of what's best for her.
The tribe arrived at tribal, their torches still lit. Russell admitted to being intense because he wanted to win. Roxy complained about putting too much energy into the camp. Denise shot the idea and emphasized that fire is important. Jeff then asked one of those loaded questions with no good answer whatsoever: Complete the phrase, if I could change one thing about this tribe... and Angie wanted cookies. I'm not sure how joking the question was because cookies can help with the blood sugar dip these people are clearly having. Why haven't we seen anyone trying to fish or gather mollusks? Malcolm tried to agree; pointed out that it was tough for the women. Roxy then pointed the Angie/Malcolm cuddling block. Malcolm called it a brother/sister relationship. Roxy then basically called it incest with her eye rolls and neck twists. Angie knew the repercussions and then might have tossed herself under the bus with some of her answers. Roxy emphasized the dangerous pair of voting as she tried to save herself.
As the vote went down we know Roxy voted for Angie and Angie voted for Roxy (with exclamation points). There was obviously no hidden immunity idol so Jeff read the votes and it was 4-1 with Roxy going home.
Next Week: Lisa starts to scramble for moves. Russell worried about his position. Skupin injures himself again. Again!
