Big premieres and big finales dominate the television landscape Sunday. Downton Abbey is back in the UK, Boardwalk Empire is back in the US, VH1 returns to the dark side of addiction while Weeds gets snuffed. Here's what's on TV Sunday.
First, Downton Abbey is back for its third series. Joining the cast is Shirley MacLaine as Cora's mother. Also, we get to find out how the engagement plans are coming along for Mary and Matthew. The premiere airs at 9pm on ITV (that's 4pm Eastern for those of you wanting to watch through methods in the US).
The other big return tonight is the third season of HBO's Boardwalk Empire. The action picks up in 1922 and Nucky is changing up the bootlegging business model. Al Capone is also looking to change things up, so expect some complications. The show returns at 9pm.
VH1 has a pair of premieres tonight also. At 8pm, Rehab With Dr. Drew follows the journey of regular people as they try to conquer their demons at the Pasadena Recovery Center. At 9pm, Behind the Music is back for its 16th season of demons conquered and rising from ashes. Sort of – tonight's subject is Train.
There are two finales featured tonight. On E!, Kourtney is ready to give birth to 18 more seasons of Keeping Up With the Kardashians while Khloe and Kim deal with their own reproductive issues. Yay? The season finale airs at 9pm. Over on Showtime, Weeds concludes its eight-year run with a one-hour episode at 10pm.
