The kudos begin at 8pm and will be simulcast on MTV and VH1.
Then at 10pm, President Obama will accept the nomination as the candidate for the Democrats at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte. Vice President Joe Biden will also speak, which means it will be a tight contest for Most Outrageous Moment versus the VMAs. Coverage can be found on the major networks, the cable news channels, and BET.
In terms of regularly scheduled programming, Discovery has a new series in the [Location] [Object] Wars genre. Tonight's entry is Texas Car Wars, which features vehicle restoration crews overhauling classic cars in the hopes of making a huge profit. The reconstruction begins at 10pm.
Finally, ABC's Canadian import summer hit Rookie Blue finishes its third season. The main case features a violent kidnapper while Chris decides whether or not to transfer. The episode airs at 9pm.
