Big Brother 14 Sunday August 19 Episode Recap: My True Alliance is the Quack Pack

Aug 19 2012 09:02 pm ET
On Sunday's episode of Big Brother 14, the overlap between the Quack Pack and the Silent Six have to choose which path to follow. A slip-and-slide HoH competition causes complications, while Ian does a fair amount of speculation.
Previously on Big Brother 14: Dan, Danielle, Shane and Britney are part of two super-alliances – the Quack Pack (with Ian) and the Silent Six (with Mike and Frank). Frank won HoH and the Veto, which made Britney and Dan very uncomfortable. In an effort to save her former teammate Wil, Ashley tried pitching to Frank the idea of dumping Dan. Britney sent Ian to do some spying and he learned from Frank that Dan is probably going on the block. However, Mike must have talked Frank out of it at the last minute because he kept original nominees Wil and Joe on the block. Wil was evicted 6-2 Thursday.
Day 41 and the live show ended with the beginning stages of a slip-and-slide-fill-the-bucket Head of Household competition. This time around, there are two other buckets the players can fill. One grants immunity from nominations for the week while allowing for competing in next week's HoH contest. The other jug is worth $10,000. Mike is the only player who goes for the money, which annoys Frank since that means no guaranteed safety for their twosome. Britney, Dan and Joe go for safety. Britney must have been an ice skater at some point, because she glides down the course with more ease than her competitors. She earns safety for the week. Danielle, Ian and Joe have a tough time staying balanced, Dan has to play catch-up with Shane, and poor Ashley (who still has back problems) struggles through the course. And Jenn is there. Ian, who tells us he isn't a fan of English Units, estimates the HoH jug holds about 250 cups of liquid, but their transfer cups are about 1/2 cup. Shane gets through his 500 trips fastest and wins Head of Household.
After the HoH tour, Ian pulls Britney into the pantry. He recounts a conversation he had with Mike prior to the eviction. Mike asked Ian who he would nominate if he won HoH. Ian doesn't answer right away, so Mike suggested Britney. Ian balked, so Mike suggested Shane. Ian smiles, nods, and tries to run out of the room without screaming. Britney calls an emergency meeting of the Quack Pack to discuss putting up Mike and Frank. Shane is reluctant about getting the blood on his hands, but everyone agrees now is the time to strike against Mike and Frank. If both of them are nominated, even with the veto one of them will go home. Ian adds that if any player in the room wants a chance of winning, they have to get rid of Mike and Frank. "My true alliance is the Quack Pack," Ian says with 100% seriousness in the Diary Room. Guh. Shane agrees, even though he DRs he wanted to stay true to the Silent Six.
This episode has much more filler than usual. Included are Jenn's Emmy reel, Joe's balderdash stories, Ian getting Nair'd, and a "date" between Ian and Ashley (who helped with the Nair-ing). Ick.
Shane chats with Joe in the HoH room. Shane tells him he wants to make a strong move, but will probably need Joe's vote in the near future. Joe says he will help as much as he can, because Shane deserves to win. I don't see Joe having a strong end-game.
Ian, Mike and Dan are playing pool outside, speculating about the possibilities of a second All-Star season. Ian thinks if the show does a second BBAS, it will be a Good vs. Evil theme, with Ian on Team Evil. The other guys are not so sure.
The next day, Frank, Joe, and Shane come in from outside and notice some balls on the ground. They follow the trail to the arcade, where a drop-claw game now has a question-mark covered cube. Ian DRs he expects the cube to be Pandora's Box related. Britney and Shane high-tail it to the HoH room to speculate on the implications. Neither says outright "Alison Grodner is going to save both Mike and Frank," but that seems to be the underlying tone of the conversation. No one plays the claw game to grab the cube, and nothing else is revealed.
Nominations. Jenn thinks she's next on the pick-off list. Ian likes that the Quack Pack is in charge, so he'll be safe. Mike feels like he should be safe since the Silence Six is in charge. Hmm. Shane debates between putting up the Threats (Mike and Boogie) or the floaters (Joe, Jenn or Ashley). There are too many people still in this game. Britney is safe and is handed her key. Shane pulls Danielle's key, followed by Dan, Jenn, Ashley, Joe and Ian. Mike has a stupid grin on his face.
On Wednesday's show: The Power of Veto is up for grabs, with potential shenanigans at play. Also, there's that ?-cube which may cause trouble.
