Big Brother 14 Sunday August 5 Episode Recap: It was a big huge button?

Aug 05 2012 09:41 pm ET

On Sunday's episode of Big Brother 14, Mike finds out Frank was going to get evicted had the game not been reset. The new Head of Household is determined after a lengthy endurance challenge. Two Houseguests are nominated and one may actually get evicted this time.

Previously on Big Brother 14: [REDACTED]. That's right: the first three weeks of this game were made irrelevant because Allison "M. Night Shaymalan" Grodner had so many twists, Houseguests were getting wrung out left and right. The Coaches (after some Diary Room coaching) opted to become players in the game, thereby resetting everything. Shane's flawless week as Head of Household resulted in nothing: the coaches are in the game, Joe and Frank are still in the house, and Thursday's show ended with all the Houseguests (including Shane) participating in an endurance HoH competition. This friggin' show.

Anyway, it's Day 27 and the Houseguests transition from the news about the game reset to getting ready for the HoH competition. On the way from the living room to the backyard, Dan whispers to Mike that Frank was about to go home. Mike DRs that he thought he and Dan were on good terms, so why is he finding out about this blindside this late in the process? However, Dan only told Mike as a way to build trust with his former ally, which is probably backfiring.

The players are all positioned on tiny planks alongside the rocking pirate ship. Cold water pours on them while faux seagull poop sprays the contestants periodically. Once in position, Ian asks Janelle what the Reset button looked like. Nerd. "It was a big huge button?" Janelle responds, perfectly. This competition goes a lot longer than most endurance competitions. Mike is the first to quit, but not until an hour and ten minutes elapse. Jenn and Joe drop a couple minutes later. Usually most players would be gone at this point, so kudos, I suppose. Ashley is the next to drop at 1 hour and 51 minutes. Dan quits a few minutes later.

At this point Frank, Wil, Danielle, Britney, Janelle and Ian are still in the game. Everyone wants Frank out, including Frank's exhausted arms. Frank drops at 2 hours and 13 minutes. Back on dry land, Mike updates Frank on the intel her received from Dan. The twosome continue to work together. Back on the ship, Shane is about to drop and Wil figures he has about 15 more minutes in him. Wil also notices Danielle – who is on the next plank over – is the most solid player still standing. Wil asks her if she will keep him safe. She says yes, so when Shane drops at 2 hours 43 minutes, Wil drops out, too. Janelle lasts only a few minutes more, but figures she's on good terms with Britney who is on good terms with Danielle.

Ian, Britney and Danielle are still on the ship. Ian decides it's time to make a deal with Danielle. He's four or five planks over and tries to whisper to Danielle. "I can't hear you," she yells to the yard. Britney serves as the intermediary for this less-than-subtle conversation. Dan notices this and yells at his former team player that this is her opportunity to take a stand in this game. It's all very Rudy. Meanwhile, Mike and Frank have snuck into the house to discuss the averted blindside. "Danielle is clearly not trustworthy," Frank says.

Ian is about to collapse and asks Danielle if he is safe. She says yes and he drops at 3 hours and 15 minutes. Britney also checks in with her safety (which really shouldn't be a concern) and also drops. Danielle is the new Head of Household. It does not go unnoticed that Mike and Frank found out after the fact, as they were solidifying their twosome inside when the result was determined.

Now that people are back in the house, everyone does recon. Dan asks Mike if he told Frank about the potential ouster. Dan lies(?) about finding out the plan Wednesday night and he didn't want to say anything to cause a blowup before the live show. In the arcade, Shane has a legitimate gripe about his week was made irrelevant and now he has blood on his hands. Danielle's gripe is about Janelle and how she gives off bad vibes.

Britney joins Mike and Frank in one of the bedrooms and plays dumb when told about the plot to get rid of Frank. In the Diary Room, she rolls her eyes about someone having a big mouth and now she needs to do damage control. Britney leaves the room and Frank comments that he doesn't trust the former coach. Britney meets with Shane and tells him Frank knows. With Danielle as HoH, Shane is safe this week so his plan is to keep his head down and admit nothing. Britney returns to the bedroom and lies about Shane having no clue about the blindside plan.

After another boring HoH suite tour, Dan, Danielle, Britney and Shane chat about potential nominees. The icebreaker question: which players are the big threats? Frank, Wil, Janelle and Mike are the names that come up. Dan DRs he would prefer not seeing a coach nominated because if one goes, the other coaches will likely follow. Right now the plan is to put up Frank, with Wil as a pawn. Later in the pantry, Danielle, Wil and Britney chat. Wil agrees getting rid of a big threat is vital at this point. He also reminds the Southern Belle she promised Wil safety before he dropped out of the competition. Danielle had forgotten that tidbit and now she's getting queasy with possibly backsliding.

Dan and Danielle have one more chat in the Head of Household room before nominations. Dan still wants Frank and Wil on the block, but Danielle is worried about how the Veto will play out if one of them wins. She also doesn't want to violate the deal she made with Wil, but that's a secondary concern at this point. Dan says if it's Frank vs Wil on Thursday, Frank goes home. If it's Frank vs Mike or Frank vs Janelle, predicting the outcome gets murkier.

Time for nominations. As Danielle puts keys in boxes, we check in with likely nominees. Wil is annoyed that Danielle will likely back out of their deal. Dan hopes his protege will keep the coaches safe. Mike not only expects to be nominated but will be offended if he isn't. The ceremony begins and Britney's key is pulled first. Ian, Dan, Janelle, Jenn, Shane, Ashley, Joe and Mike also receive keys. That means Frank and Wil are the nominees for eviction. In the diary room, Wil says Danielle's word doesn't mean jack [blurry mouth], Danielle assures us Frank is the target, Mike asks "Do these people know who I am?" and Frank says he is happy to continue dodging bullets.

On Wednesday's Big Brother 14: Will Shane get the chance to continue his Veto streak? Will the nominees stay in place? Will Ashley continue to reject Ian's advances?
