Tonight's television features more Olympic Trials, the BET Awards '12, the debuts of Queen & Country and Endeavour, and the season premieres of Weeds and Episodes. Here's what's on TV Sunday.
The big event tonight is the premiere broadcast of The BET Awards '12. Samuel L. Jackson will bring the hot-zpacho in the event celebrating the year in music and pop culture. Al Sharpton will be honored as well as the life of Whitney Houston, who passed away in February. The special begins at 8pm.
NBC's primetime schedule features US Olympic Trials in three events. At 7pm Eastern, Track and Field coverage will include men's 200 meters, men's and women's 400m hurdles, and men's and women's 1500m. At 8pm, we head to the pool for freestyle, butterfly, and backstroke. Then at 9pm, the women's gymnastics team finishes its last day of competition.
PBS has two new mini-series debuting tonight. First, Queen & Country is a four-part documentary about the British monarchy and how its customs and traditions interact with day-to-day life in the UK. Then on Masterpiece: Mystery!, the 'Inspector Morse' prequel Endeavour airs its first case. The lineup is scheduled to begin at 8pm, but check your local PBS listings.
Finally, Showtime's comedy slate is back on Sunday nights. At 10pm, you can catch the eighth (and final) season premiere of Weeds. At 10:30pm, Matt LeBlanc is back for another season of Episodes.
