Spartacus to end after third season

Spartacus, the blood-and-sex gladiator fest on Starz, will be ending after its upcoming third season.

According to Mo Ryan of Huffington Post, Spartacus: War of the Damned will air a 10-episode third season and wrap. In her article she shares an interview with creator Steven DeKnight about the show's legacy and how this decision came about.

The Sparatcus series faced several ups-and-downs in its relatively short run. The first season was not well-received by critics, but gathered a devoted and growing fanbase. Following the first season of the show, star Andy Whitfield passed away from complications of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Liam McIntyre took on the role for season two and the upcoming season.
