NBC releases Fall 2012 schedule: Three nights of comedy and a heavy mid-season arsenal

May 13 2012 02:00 pm ET
In preparation for its upfront presentation Monday morning, NBC released its fall scheduling plans Sunday. The network has placed a number of current programs into the backup arsenal while expanding its comedy presence to Friday night.
NBC's main strategy appears to be expanding its comedy brand, adding a third night of programming. Two new shows will occupy the Wednesday 8-9 block while Thursday features all returning shows. Whitney and Community will stay on the fall scheduling, though they will now try to attract audiences on Fridays from 8-9.
Another major change is in NBC's reality scheduling: only The Voice will air as a two-hour show. The Biggest Loser is off the schedule until mid-season and the return of The Celebrity Apprentice has been reduced to an hour.
