May 10 2012 09:33 pm ET

All four broadcast networks released renewal, cancellation and new series pickup news Thursday in preparation for next week's upfront presentations. However, the lack of announcements for some shows had those in the TV realm of the Twitterverse in full panic mode.

ABC

•ABC's Thursday began with news that comedy Cougar Town will be moving to cable network TBS, with new episodes debuting in 2013. (Source: TVLine)
•The cast of Grey's Anatomy renewed their contracts for a ninth season hours before the network formally announced the renewal. (Source: Zap2It)
ABC also renewed Wednesday night comedies Modern Family, The Middle and Suburgatory. Dramas Castle, Once Upon a Time and Revenge(!!!!!!!!) will also return next season. (Source: TV by the Numbers)
Edited to add: ABC renewed reality series Dancing with the Stars and Shark Tank (Source: Entertainment Weekly)

CBS

CBS, which has
already renewed a significant portion of its slate, cleared an hour on its schedule by canceling freshman Friday night drama A Gifted Man.

Fox

Fox extended its relationship with Seth MacFarland industries by renewing both Family Guy and American Dad. The fate of The Cleveland Show is still up in the air.

NBC

•The Peacock picked up two more shows, medical drama Do No Harm and the soapy Infamous. (Source: Deadline)
•The biggest buzz in Twitter circles featured NBC's renewals. Family drama Parenthood and comedies 30 Rock and Community will come back for abbreviated seasons. 30 Rock will end its run at the conclusion of the season.
•Not as buzz-worthy but still notable, reality contest Fashion Star will return for a second run. Although not a major ratings draw, the fashion lines from the show have been selling out in the sponsors' stores, which raises interesting questions about a potential new economy for broadcast.
•Biggest panic inducer: the fate of Parks and Recreation, which is still undecided.
