Fox and NBC made several decisions in preparation for their respective upfront presentations next Monday. In total, 12 shows have been picked up, two have been renewed, and two have been given walking papers.
NBC made its decisions early on Thursday. The network officially renewed Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, giving the last remaining L&O franchise a 14th season. Dick Wolf, the creator of the franchise, also had his new drama Chicago Fire picked up to series. Also picked up were the comedies Guys with Kids, Go On, Save Me, The New Normal, 1600 Penn and Animal Practice.
Fox also made several additions to its schedule. The network picked up three comedies: Ben & Kate (formerly 'Ben Fox is My Manny', formerly 'Ned'), Goodwin Games, and Mindy Kaling's It's Messy. On the drama front, Fox picked up The Mob Doctor and Mastermind, a serial killer drama starring Kevin Bacon. To make room for the dramas, the network axed Alcatraz and The Finder. Surprisingly, the network is hanging on to Touch, despite also struggling in the ratings.
NBC and Fox will present their full fall schedules at the network upfronts next Monday.
