The X Factor USA News: Steve Jones, Nicole Scherzinger, Paula Abdul booted
Let the bloodletting begin. Steve Jones and Nicole Scherzinger will not be returning to The X Factor. In a surprise move, Paula Abdul will also be exiting the program.
"I wont be hosting next seasons XFactor which is a shame but I cant complain as I've had a great time. Good luck to everyone on the show," Jones tweeted Monday evening, confirming what many expected to happen once the show finished its first season in December.
This is the first of what may be several changes as the singing competition tries to build off of its solid-yet-underwhelming first season. Jones did not resonate with the audience and appeared robotic at times during the live performance and results shows.
UPDATE: EW also reported on Monday that Nicole Scherzinger is expected to be booted from the judging panel. Though the report has not been confirmed by the show or Scherzinger's people, this move was also heavily speculated towards the end of season one. However, EW's report says Nicole is off the panel, but not necessarily off the show. She was originally cast to be a co-host with Jones and may now find herself taking over hosting duties. However, E! News cites a source saying Scherzinger will not be returning at all so she can focus on her music.
Update 2: Deadline Hollywood reported late Monday that Paula Abdul will also be leaving The X Factor.
