It's time for two big annual events for January: The Oscar Nominations and the State of the Union Address. On the reality front, Joan and Melissa Rivers are back for a second season while we find out who is the most extreme couponer. Here's what's on TV Tuesday.

First up, the Academy Award nominations will be announced live at 8:30am Eastern. Good Morning America will likely have the most comprehensive coverage since ABC hosts the Oscars. If you aren't near a TV, you can watch the announcement live on the Oscars website.

The other major live event happening today is President Obama's State of the Union Address. The broadcast networks and most cable news networks will begin coverage at 9pm Eastern. Fox News will get a slight jump on the competition with coverage starting at 8:55pm while MSNBC begins at 8pm.

If you need a breather from politics, weTV has the perfect counterprogramming: the season two premiere of Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best?. In this week's installment, Melissa holds a plastic surgery intervention for her mother. The jokes just write themselves, sometimes. The show premieres at 9pm.

Finally, Extreme Couponing All-Stars ends its first season with the three finalists battling it out in Las Vegas. Will it be the vegan, the math expert, or the mom with seven kids who saves the most and wins? Find out at 10pm on TLC.
