Denmark became the third country to present its selection for the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest in Saturday's Dansk Melodi Grand Prix. "Should've Known Better" by Soluna Samay, a pop rock track, will attempt to fulfill Denmark's goal of winning the Contest.

Saturday's event began with the presentation of the nine finalists competing for the opportunity to represent Denmark in Azerbaijan. The nine songs explored multiple styles, from uptempo ballads to dance pop, acoustic tracks to dubstep. Following the performances, the home audience televote was tabulated and three superfinalists were named: "Take Our Hearts" by Jesper Nohrstedt, "Venter" by Christian Brøns & Patrik Isaksson, and "Should've Known Better" by Soluna Samay.

The three superfinalists performed their entries again for additional votes and jury consideration. 2009 ESC winner Alexander Rybak also performed before participating in the announcement of jury points. Norway, Russia and Germany awarded 12 points to "Take Our Hearts" while Azerbaijan and Denmark gave top scores to "Should've Known Better." After last year's representative A Friend in London (accompanied by Backstreet Boy Howie D) performed "New Tomorrow," the audience vote was added to the jury results. The audience selected "Should've Known Better," giving the song the right to represent Denmark.

Denmark, Switzerland and Albania will be joined by 40 other countries in Baku, Azerbaijan for this year's Eurovision song contest. The draw for semi-final assignments will take place Wednesday. The Contest Semi-Finals will take place on May 22 and 24, with the Grand Final happening May 26.
