Sunday TV: Downton Abbey, Absolutely Fabulous, Shameless, House of Lies, The Firm

It's a huge night of television with season premieres all over the place. Downton Abbey, AbFab, Shameless and Californication are back. Joining them are the dark comedy House of Lies and the drama The Firm. Here's what's on TV Sunday.
The big event tonight is the return of British period drama Downton Abbey on Masterpiece Classic. The two-hour episode begins with World War I and the house operating with a smaller staff. The show should air at 9pm, but check your local listings.
The other big British premiere tonight is the return of Absolutely Fabulous. Patsy, Edina and Saffron are back with three new episodes starting tonight. This is so fabulous that two networks will be airing the return: BBC America and Logo, both at 10pm.
Over on Showtime, there's a new Sunday slate premiering tonight. First, Shameless returns for a second season at 9pm. At 10pm, you can catch the series debut of House of Lies, starring Don Cheadle and Kristen Bell. This will be followed by the fifth-season premiere of Californication at 10:35pm.
Finally, NBC begins its football-less Sunday night programming with the series premiere of The Firm. This drama, based on the John Grisham novel and movie, takes place ten years after the original story ended. The two-hour pilot begins at 9pm.
