The X Factor USA Finals Live Results Coverage: Who wins The X Factor 2011?

Dec 22 2011 03:39 pm ET

Join TVLatest.com tonight at 8pm for live coverage of tonight's season finale of The X Factor USA. Will it be Melanie Amaro, Josh Krajcik or Chris Rene who walks away with a $5 million recording contract?

Wednesday's performance finale pulled out all the stops as each finalist sang a duet with one of their musical icons. Josh Krajcik sang with Alanis Morissette, Chris Rene performed with Avril Lavigne, and Melanie Amaro co-owned the stage with R. Kelly. After a bizarre Michael Jackson tribute with the robot cast of Transformers, the finalists sang new versions of the songs they auditioned with oh so long ago. How did America Vote? Let's look back at the three finalists and their journeys:

Melanie Amaro had one of the strongest auditions and breezed through Boot Camp. Melanie developed a hiccup in her narrative when her mentor Simon Cowell decided not to select her as part of his top four. He corrected this mistake and Melanie sailed through the competition. Melanie found new confidence during Thanksgiving week when she dropped her fake American accent and embraced her Virgin Islands roots. Some of her song choices may have been safe or predictable, but Melanie held her own with a song choice that was a Mariah/Whitney hybrid. Does Melanie have The X Factor?

Josh Krajcik surprised everyone at his audition when he chose to sing "At Last" and delivered with 100% soul. He started the early rounds with excellent song choices and a clear musician identity. When two weeks of uptempo themes challenged Josh, he stumbled but did not fall. Will the sole rep of the Over 30s category take home the grand prize?

Chris Rene auditioned with a song about his sobriety called "Young Homie." With a clear narrative served on a silver platter, there was no doubt Chris would make it to the live shows. Chris struggled the first few weeks with matching his style to the various themes, but sliding his own lyrics and songs into the competition has served him well. Though not the strongest singer in the competition, could his persona and backstory lead to a $5 million contract?

Tonight's show will be jam-packed with performances from the finalists, eliminated contestants, and special guests – 50 Cent, Justin Bieber, Leona Lewis, among others. By the end of the two-hour extravaganza one contestant will win the biggest prize ever awarded on American television. Join me at 8pm Eastern for live coverage!
