After 10 weeks of live competition, revolving door contestants and the next generation of judges, it has come down to girl group Little Mix and the last of the boys Marcus Collins vying for the X Factor title. Who walked away as the winner?
The show opened with a performance from the acts that competed in the live shows. The mashup included "We Found Love" by Rihanna (Little Mix and Marcus), "Party Rock Anthem" by LMFAO (The Risk, Nu Vibe, 2 Shoes), "On the Floor" by Jennifer Lopez (Janet Devlin, Sophie Habibis, Misha B, and special guest Goldie Cheung), "Moves Like Jagger" by Maroon 5 (Johnny Robinson, Sami Brookes, Craig Colton), "Edge of Glory" by Lady GaGa (Kitty Brucknell and the full cast).
For the first round, the two finalists reprised their favorite performances from the series. Marcus Collins performed first with "Higher and Higher" by Jackie Wilson. Little Mix chose their rendition of En Vogue's "Don't Let Go" from Movie Week. The second round featured Christmas songs. Marcus performed a jazzed-up rendition of Wham!'s "Last Christmas." Little Mix sang "Silent Night" with as many harmonies as possible. The final performance from each act was the song "Cannonball" by Damien Rice, which will be the winner's single scheduled to be released Wednesday.
After the contestant and guest performances (Westlife and Coldplay) voting closed for the series. Votes carried over from Saturday's performance show in the final vote total. After the acts returned to the stage with their mentors (Gary Barlow and Tulisa), host Dermot O'Leary revealed the winner: Little Mix.
Little Mix is the first group to win the UK version of The X Factor and the fifth group to win any version of the franchise. The quartet closed out the show reprising "Cannonball" as the audience chanted the group's name.
