The X Factor US Top 10 Live Elimination Results Coverage
Nov 17 2011 04:32 pm CET

Join tonight at 8pm for live coverage of tonight's elimination results on The X Factor. 10 acts tried to rock out on Wednesday's show, but only eight will be guaranteed safety. Which two acts will face-off in the Final Showdown?

This week of The X Factor was rock week, though some of the song choices were either rock-inspired or rock-adjacent. Paula Abdul and her sole remaining group Lakoda Rayne performed the only mashup of the evening with The Outfield's "Your Love" and Fleetwood Mac's "Go Your Own Way." Though it was arguably the group's best performance so far, it was middling compared to the rest of the field.

Nicole Scherzinger's Over 30s opened the show with LeRoy Bell delivering the ballad "We've Got Tonight." His reviews were mixed while fellow Over 30 contestant Stacy Francis received the most negative critiques of any performance this season. However, it was Josh Krajcik's performance of Foo Fighters' "The Pretender" that stole the show Wednesday night.

Simon Cowell and the Girls tried to step out of their respective comfort zones to attempt rock. Rachel Crow was the most successful, delivering a soul-infused version of "Satisfaction." Melanie Amaro and Drew Ryniewicz delivered slowed down versions of R.E.M and U2 songs which skirted the rock theme, which is surprising given who the original artists are.

LA Reid and the Boys had another strong night. Astro re-imagined Puff Daddy's "I'll Be Missing You" into a love song about hip hop. Chris Rene took on Bob Marley, which caused Simon Cowell to question if LA bypassed the theme of the week entirely. Marcus Canty closed the evening with a soulful rendition of "Piece of My Heart."

On tonight's show: Rihanna stops by a mentor who is not Paula will find one of their acts in the Final Showdown. My guess is Nicole Scherzinger, thanks to Stacy Francis and/or LeRoy Bell. Live coverage begins tonight at 8pm Eastern!
