Expedition Impossible Recap: Rock the Kasbah
Aug 05 2011 12:22 am ET

Dave started the leg at the Golden Kasbah, showing that this episode would be a bit more like The Amazing Race than it was previously. There was another one day leg and every mistake could cost teams. To begin the leg, the contestants had to go look for a symbol that matched the map which was a "souk" or marketplace. The Gypsies had a three minute advantage which made more sense when the first thing to do was a puzzle.

The Fab 3, Blind, and Footballers left second. The Footballers hoped that they would find Waldo before looking at the symbol. In the last wave the Country Boys, Cops, and Pink departed, the Cops the most worried about the fact that they suck at puzzles. All the teams were confused and started moving around. The small lead helped the Gypsies find the symbol first but every team noticed that the Gypsies were looking in one direction. Pink, the Blind, and the Gays were all out quickly. The cops were given the answer but the Country Boys and Footballers left before them. The Cops left for the Souk last.

Pink had an enjoyable time in second place, their highest position ever. The Country Boys finally had an interview after a few episodes, which was a big red light. They would either surge to the front or get eliminated. The Gypsies, Pink, and Blind headed into the marketplace with Jeff having to drag Blind Erik as he broke the merchandise and asked for forgiveness.

Gypsies, got the clue to head to the airport to use a special ticket; Pink right behind them. The Blind, Gay, Footballers, and Country Boys saw the clue in a wave and left. On the way back to the truck, Ike slipped on the curb and injured his angle that he hurt in Afghanistan. How sad is it that of all the forms of terrain that could fell a contestant, it was the man made curb that was the biggest issue?

After the commercial, the Jeff and Erik suggested taking an aspirin, but Army Ike didn't say or take anything. At least the aspirin could have lessened the pain temporarily. The Gypsies arrived first, staring at ambulances wondering if they were going to die, I just thought that production was ready to check Ike. The Gypsies read that their next clue was the "Roadblock" where only one contestant could skydive. After some rock-paper-scissors Blond Gypsy got to go. Pink and Blind arrived within seconds of each other and while Pink finished reading their clue they lost a place when they didn't have the ticket and Jeff realized he was the only person without any limits to skydive.

Kari of the gays used her sisterly ways to skydive and while it upset Ryan, he let her go. The Footballers had Robert let Ricky volunteer, Akbar weighing too much to skydive. The Country Boys were all a bit on the heavier side, so it left Jason as the only one remotely close to 200 pounds.

On airplane one Taylor and Jeff leapt out of their plane, Gypsies with purple goggles for the occasion. Note that no other team had colored goggles on. While free-falling, contestants would have to look for the swimming symbol that was on top of an airplane building. Probably the same building where Ike pretended that he wasn't in pain in. The paramedics were convinced that Ike needed an X-ray. Ike was in tears because he didn't want to let his team down.

The two divers landed and Jeff was disappointed to hear that Ike's conditions got worse. Ike wanted to race so he didn't listen to the doctors. In dive two, Pink Asian and Gay's Sister jumped without much of a hassle. The rest of the divers Ricky, Jim, and Jason went down without too much issue. Ricky was afraid that he could go splat; kind of like the last time when the Footballers thought they would go splat on the zip line. It would have been hysterical if one of the contestants lost their map while they were in the air.

On the road to the next clue The Blind talked to Ike and tried to get him to step down, but he was too proud to quit. The gays announced the slogan "I like Ike" in support. Ike for president, even though "Ike" never shows up in Aaron's full name. The Gypsies had to swim across the river and trek a mile to the next clue. Ike had a splint on and swam across probably getting gross microbes caught in his gauze padding. He must have reeked after this leg. Poor Jeff had to take care of both Ike and Erik. At the clue box, the teams had to decode their clue which was six pictures, similar to the ones on their map, but were activities. Immediately, Blonde Gypsy got KASBAH, the acronyms of each symbol, and headed out.

The Blind arrived at the clue box, but they realized that they didn't have a map. The Gays and Pink struggled on the river but made it across without getting washed away. The Gays decided that they would go and look at the clue without even thinking. Pink got tricked into helping the Blind by providing them the map, but in turn Ike solved KASBAH and told Pink the answer.

The gays ran and read the clue "Archery" but never noticed the underline. The last three teams arrived and the Footballers figured out that it was the Kasbah. Quickly both the Cops and Country Boys figured out their clue. Kari was in last and depressed because she knew that they were eliminated. They stared at the clue blank.

The Gypsies decided to take a mental break and looked and enjoyed the scenery. Blind and Pink were trailing even though Ike had to have been in pain. I still don't know how Ike climbed up the wall. The Gypsies decided to go and have a tea break as much as John grumbled. Either way, he smiled as he drank some tea. They smiled and headed out well before the Blind arrived.

The gays were in the back stuck which was disappointing to see because they were so good with all the other non-luck based puzzles. I would argue that no one would have thought of digging for water until they did in episode one. After a 20 minute loss, the Gays finally solved the clue and headed out.

Gypsies arrived in first to no one’s surprise. Blind and Pink checked in second and third, respectively. Asian Pink was so happy that she could feel like a front runner for a day. With so few teams left, the Footballers and Cops checked in nonchalantly as well; the Footballers confused why they were one spot ahead of what they thought they were.

The heights became an issue for Chad and accepted that they were in last place. While they didn't know there was one team behind them, that team wasn't quitting any time soon. The Gays got even more energy as they saw the Country Boys struggling. They sprinted and managed to gain neutralize a twenty minutes deficit. The Gays then started to run past the Boys and climb in the hard direction. Poor Chad had issues climbing the less difficult version which left the Country Boys out of the running. The Gays arrived in sixth, dodging yet another bullet. The Country Boys' elevation issues were their final nail.

Next Week: Ankles roll and boats spin in circle.
