In news on Tuesday: Charlie Sheen tries to get the last laugh at the Comedy Central Roast, Mariah Carey may be a part of The X Factor, and more casting announcements from Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

Comedy Central announced today that Charlie Sheen is the next subject du jour for their celebrity roast specials. The kicker: the special is scheduled to air on September 19 at 10pm – the same night that Ashton Kutcher debuts on the season premiere of Two and a Half Men. The special will record earlier in September. (Source: TVLine)

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Mariah Carey is still in talks to participate in the upcoming season of Fox's The X Factor. She was considered a frontrunner as a potential judge, however her pregnancy and recent birth of twins forced her to bow out of those negotiations. According to the article, Simon Cowell would like her to mentor in some capacity, though that role is in the job description for the judges. Perhaps she will take on a Jimmy Iovine role for everyone?

Fans of Law & Order: SVU will be pleased to hear that Stephanie March ("Alexandra Cabot") and Diane Neal ("Casey Novak") will be returning to the show for the upcoming season. Neal was last seen on the series this past season as part of a crossover with Law & Order LA. March was last on the show in the 2009-10 season. There's no word yet as to how many episodes each actress will be featured, but it will be good to see familiar faces in the DA's office. (Source: TV Guide)
