Possible American Idol format revealed (Spoiler-ish)
Nov 30 2010 10:44 am CET

The website Vote for the Worst may have stumbled upon the format and schedule for the upcoming season of American Idol.

The website, known for supporting less capable competitors on reality shows, posted their findings early Tuesday.

Possible Spoilers listed below

•The first six episodes (January 19-February 3) will be the audition episodes. The order will be California, Nashville, Milwaukee, New Jersey, Austin, New Orleans.

•242 people will go through to the Hollywood round. This year it will feature workshops and Q&A sessions so the home audience can learn about the contestants. This will take place over five episodes (February 9-23).

•The field will be whittled down to 40-50, at which point the home audience will vote online to select the Top 12. The kick-off for online voting will be February 24.

•The Top 12 will be revealed March 2. The judges and permanent mentor Jimmy Iovine will also select 3 wildcards, revealed on March 3.

•The top 15 will start competing March 9. There will have to be two double eliminations along the way for a May 25-26 two-person finale, but it wouldn't surprise me if the show tries for a three person contest in the finals.
