Program note: Obama speech delays East Coast primetime
Aug 31 2010 03:46 pm ET

President Obama will address the nation tonight at 8 p.m. Eastern. The address is expected to announce the end of US combat operations in Iraq. All four major broadcast networks as well as the cable news nets will carry the speech.

The Oval Office speech is expected to last approximately 15 minutes. As a result, the broadcast networks will be adjusting their schedules to accommodate the speech.

ABC, CBS, and Fox will start their programming at 8:15 or when the address ends if it goes longer.

NBC will air an abbreviated episode of 'Minute to Win It' after the speech. 'America's Got Talent' will start at 9 p.m.

West Coast viewers should not experience a delay in their programming since the speech will air at 5 p.m. Pacific.
