CARB loading: media watchdog supergroup challenges Comedy Central
Jun 01 2010 09:33 pm ET

The newly-formed Coalition Against Religious Bigotry (CARB) has targeted Comedy Central’s proposed Jesus Christ animation project. CARB includes media watchdogs such as the Parents Television Council, the Catholic League, and the Media Research Council.

According to articles published on The Hollywood Reporter Live Feed, the show ‘JC’ was presented at last month’s upfronts but so far is still in the early development phase. Live Feed describes the premise: “In the show, God is preoccupied with playing video games while Christ, ‘the ultimate fish out of water,’ tries to adjust to life in the big city.” Currently the project is a joint venture with Reveille, Henrik Basin, Brian Boyle (‘American Dad’), Jonathan Sjoberg and Andreas Ohman.

Comedy Central so far has no comment about CARB or the coalition’s compilation of clips from ‘South Park’ that poke fun (and ninja stars) at Christianity.
